The nice thing about this night was that the Nort\u00adhern Lights lasted long enough for me to photo\u00adgraph several subjects in my home town. Also because I was already at the first subject when the aurora appeared. After an hour\u2019s wait at Aneresel\u2019s Cross with a clear view to the north, they appeared. When I had taken the photos there with a beau\u00adtiful green arc, I was drawn up here to the chapel. In the mean\u00adtime, the inten\u00adsity had increased consider\u00adably and you could see the nort\u00adhern lights shim\u00adme\u00adring red and purple over the Letzen\u00adberg with the naked eye. For this shot I had to let my drone take to the skies with some distance, from where I could take a vertical panorama with 3 shots. You have to anti\u00adci\u00adpate the finished image a bit to have the right perspec\u00adtive and distance. Photo\u00adgraphers are also drawn here again and again for great motifs. Previously, I had already learned func\u00adtion and opera\u00adtion in open fields and now I wanted to make some great shots once. To get to see the other\u00adwise colorful red and green roof in all white, you have to be quick. Quickly the snow begins to slide on the steep roof, or even a little too much wind can be enough that the roof is no longer comple\u00adtely covered with snow. The possi\u00adbi\u00adlity to see the Letzen\u00adberg Chapel covered in snow is getting rarer by the year. In the flood\u00adplain I took a few shots in the misty haze. When I noticed that the incre\u00adasing sun was colou\u00adring the light, still exis\u00adting mist gold, I spon\u00adta\u00adneously had the right idea. I drove as fast as I could through the village and up the Letzen\u00adberg. Aber so ein rich\u00adtiger Zauber entwi\u00adckelt sich erst, wenn es dunkel wird und es viel\u00adleicht auch noch beginnt zu schneien. Wir hatten gerade die Kinder ins Bett gebracht, da fragte ich nochmal meine Frau, ob ich denn auf den Letzen\u00adberg gehen k\u00f6nne, um noch einmal ein paar Land\u00adschafts\u00adauf\u00adnahmen zu machen. Ein halb verst\u00e4nd\u00adnis\u00advolles Nicken von ihr, dass zur h\u00e4lfte auch als, \u201cwieso denn schon wieder?\u201d inter\u00adpre\u00adtiert h\u00e4tte werden k\u00f6nnen, und schon war ich auf dem Draht\u00adesel, um zum Spot zu fahren. Die frei\u00adste\u00adhende St. Juli\u00adanna Kirche bietet sich f\u00fcr diese Art von Aufnahmen gera\u00addezu an. Ich posi\u00adtio\u00adnierte mich und wartete. With the shoo\u00adting tech\u00adnique I had used in this photo\u00adgraph, one would bring the main street to the camera sensor deserted anyway. With the help of gray filters I increased the expo\u00adsure time to almost 10 minutes. This was the only way I could capture enough streaks of light from passing vehicles after dusk set in to nicely image the curves of the main road. At the same time the passing clouds blur into long drawn stripes. The lights in the windows of the Zehnt\u00adkeller buil\u00adding I had to add them with the help of Photo\u00adshop. As I waited the minutes before sunrise for the best light, however, the clouds moved away secretly, silently and quietly, so that no sunset red could appear above the castle. Nevert\u00adheless, there was enough mist and fog in the surroun\u00adding area to create a wonderful atmo\u00adsphere in the land\u00adscape. Even before the city begins to awaken, the sun is slowly approa\u00adching the horizon and already illu\u00admi\u00adnates the clouds above the old town in reddish colours. The warm light settles on the historic buil\u00addings of one of Germany\u2019s most beau\u00adtiful cities. Hardly anyone is out and about, but I had the right nose and am on the spot to capture this wonderful scenery.
