The perfect morning? \u2014 The only important tip in photography<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tOh, it could just have been the perfect morning. The mood of the light, the presence of the perfect amount of misty haze, the spring green and me stan\u00adding in the biggest sea of wild garlic to take pictures. But the world isn\u2019t perfect and so it is that some places full of wild garlic fell victim to the forestry work in winter and the other\u00adwise perfect morning didn\u2019t coin\u00adcide with the peak of the wild garlic blossom. A pity really. Nevert\u00adheless, some great pictures were taken and I have a very basic tip for you in this BLOG\/VLOG! \t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

I\u2019m stan\u00adding at home, son in my arms, daughter by the hand, and I look at my wife with a slightly plea\u00adding look: \u2018I\u2019ll go shop\u00adping straight after\u00adwards so that\u2019s done!\u2019. She looks at me, hesi\u00adtates and then says: \u2018All right, then just go\u2026\u2019. In no time at all, I packed my photo equip\u00adment, put on my old shoes and outdoor trou\u00adsers, grabbed my jacket and off I went. \u2018Thank you!\u2019 I said and I was off. <\/p>

I knew the condi\u00adtions could be perfect and when I looked out of the window early in the morning, it was confirmed. But I also know that it\u2019s not always a given that you can take advan\u00adtage of perfect condi\u00adtions with all your family and work commit\u00adments. My employer allows a certain degree of flexi\u00adbi\u00adlity, which I some\u00adtimes utilise and ther\u00ade\u00adfore greatly appre\u00adciate. Not my children. If it wasn\u2019t for my wife, who always gives me these spon\u00adta\u00adneous conces\u00adsions and allows me to photo\u00adgraph in ideal condi\u00adtions. I am infi\u00adni\u00adtely grateful for that! <\/p>

And so I had a bit of luck (in the form of my wife) this morning and I was able to stand here in the forest not far away in a neigh\u00adbou\u00adring commu\u00adnity, between sensa\u00adtional rays of light and rising sunlight at the time of the wild garlic blossom. And the very first pictures were simply marvellous. I could have packed up straight away and the day would have been a complete success. But that\u2019s not me. Now I want to make the most of the light and photo\u00adgraph the wild garlic in bloom.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Not ever\u00ady\u00adthing is perfect<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Now for the big but. In an imper\u00adfect world, perhaps there is simply no such thing as a perfect morning for me and wild garlic photo\u00adgraphy. In addi\u00adtion to the perfect condi\u00adtions, I found one thing above all else that morning: closed wild garlic flowers. Yes, unfort\u00adu\u00adna\u00adtely it was still a bit early and the wild garlic didn\u2019t want to bloom on this other\u00adwise perfect morning, but only a week or two later. At least over a large area. <\/p>

In addi\u00adtion, in winter the forestry workers had caused immense damage to the largest sea of wild garlic I had ever seen. Large areas of wild garlic had disap\u00adpeared, trampled, rolled over, covered with huge felled tree trunks\u2026 It will probably take a few years for the wild garlic to recover.<\/p>

But I persisted. I was able to discover open flowers in some places. Even if not in the most beau\u00adtiful places lined with light, but a little deeper in the forest. Even though the wild garlic had not quite reached its peak, the condi\u00adtions were all the more favourable, resul\u00adting in some wonderful pictures. <\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Utilise perfect condi\u00adtions perfectly<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

In this section, let\u2019s also talk about how you can make the most of perfect condi\u00adtions when you find them. There\u2019s actually a golden rule for this: when taking photos on loca\u00adtion, you need to collect all the data that you\u2019ll need later in image proces\u00adsing. Because once you\u2019re back home and you realise that you\u2019re missing a focal plane, or an expo\u00adsure, or a slightly adjusted compo\u00adsi\u00adtion to perfect the picture, then unfort\u00adu\u00adna\u00adtely it\u2019s over. The moment will never come again, the picture in nature will be diffi\u00adcult to repeat. You may have to wait years for similar condi\u00adtions, but that moment is gone.<\/p>

So what does that mean for you when you\u2019re out in field?<\/p>
