Life as a full-time working engi\u00adneer, family man and ambi\u00adtious amateur photo\u00adgrapher is not always easy to juggle. So you take every oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity to get your camera out and take photos. This morning, however, the focus was clearly on a disco\u00advery tour through the forest with my daughter. And she did just that. <\/p>

My wife was allowed to relax at home, as we are expec\u00adting our second child soon and any oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity to rech\u00adarge her batte\u00adries is very important for her. I disco\u00advered frogs, herons and ducks at a lake with my daughter. We looked for beau\u00adtifully shaped flowers and leaves or mush\u00adrooms on the forest floor. We looked at snails up close and were even able to observe a deer in the wild a few meters away from us. It was a very exci\u00adting morning for my daughter (and for me too). <\/p>

To ensure that this walk in the woods was really about my daughter and not about vlog\u00adging or taking photos, I set myself the chall\u00adenge of only pres\u00adsing the shutter button on my camera once and only filming the bare minimum with my vlog\u00adging camera. My daughter was even allowed to help decide which scene should be photographed. <\/p>

But trust me, there was more than one great photo oppor\u00adtu\u00adnity, as you can see in the vlog below.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Why this approach is also good for you<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Some\u00adtimes, espe\u00adci\u00adally when you\u2019re out and about in unfa\u00admi\u00adliar terri\u00adtory, you get excited about ever\u00ady\u00adthing that\u2019s new to you and start snap\u00adping away like crazy. The result is umpteen pictures, but none of them are really convin\u00adcing. A good compo\u00adsi\u00adtion, taking into account the direc\u00adtion of the light, the right use of tech\u00adno\u00adlogy and possibly filters \u2014 there are many things that you may simply not pay atten\u00adtion to in the hectic rush and \u201csnap\u00adping\u201d and which you may not really value because of the euphoria. Concen\u00adt\u00adra\u00adting at this moment on just one photo, which alone reflects the story of the day or the essence of the surroun\u00addings and land\u00adscape, focuses your concentration.<\/p>

If you end up taking 2 or 3 pictures, that\u2019s not really a bad thing. In any case, you save a lot of time on the computer when editing and selec\u00adting images.<\/p>

But some\u00adtimes you can\u2019t see the wood for the trees \ud83d\ude09 You can\u2019t really see what\u2019s actually worth photo\u00adgra\u00adphing. In this case, it also helps to ask yourself these simple ques\u00adtions: What is there in the land\u00adscape? What makes this land\u00adscape special? What is the lighting situa\u00adtion and how does it affect the scene?<\/p>

When you think about your surroun\u00addings in this way, you some\u00adtimes form the idea in your head of what you actually want to depict from the land\u00adscape. For me, it was the ferns that I kept finding along the edge of the path throug\u00adhout our hike. Behind them was the very dense shrub layer of this forest in summer. As the sun and rain were alter\u00adna\u00adting a bit this morning, I actually waited just a minute for it to shine through the light patches in the back\u00adground. (By the time I took the cover photo, above, for the blog entry, it was gone again). So for me, this one picture exactly charac\u00adte\u00adrizes the forest we were walking in. It shows the essence, so to speak. It may not be an abso\u00adlutely perfect port\u00adfolio shot that you prepare for, that you are on loca\u00adtion in ideal condi\u00adtions, or, or, or, but you should note that it was taken at 12 noon in summer, during a father-daughter walk in the forest. \ud83d\ude09<\/p>

Of course, it could also have been a detailed shot. There were many possi\u00adbi\u00adli\u00adties, but for me this picture shows this forest as a whole in a small scene.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
